Cape of Good Hope

The little claw-shaped peninsula in the back is the famous Cape of Good Hope - the southwestern-most part of Africa.

For ships coming from Europe, being on the other side of this cliff meant half of their journey was accomplished.

An eland enjoying his grazing rights in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.

Another view of the Cape - this time from the east. Four different species of cormorants are roosting there.

An inlet showing the hard sandstone that the Cape (and Table Mountain) are made of.

Another  example of classic African wildlife!

The ostriches are a family and word the Cape coast regularly.

Big Cats

This is my favorite sighting at Kruger National Park - one of the two cheetahs we saw on a morning drive:

A very happy and sated lion from  night safari trip:

Female lion on a prowl:

This leopard was well-camouflaged in the reeds across the river from the main Skukuza rest camp:

A lion pride enjoying their evening:

More night safari sightings:

This little tabby is the one who started it all. African Wild Cat, the wild ancestor of all the domestic cats all around the world!

Leopard mama with her cubs:

And for parting shots - back to the cheetahs!
