Maine wild life

Maine means moose! (and not just lobsters) And the best place to see them is at the appropriately named Moosehead Lake:

It has smaller critters too:

As well as traditional Maine blueberries:

Another Maine resident is Stephen King, whose house you can visit (well, as far as the front gate anyway) in Bangor:

It has a constant stream of visitors and picture-takers:

What else is from Maine? It's Poland Spring water. It's no longer bottled at the source, but the spring is still there with a museum around it:

And here is the actual Poland Spring:

And a reminder that Poland Spring didn't always sell just water...

Bar Harbor - summer 2019

Bar Harbor is one of the best places in the country to watch July 4th fireworks. Not only the weather is beautiful, but the fireworks are close in the bay and can be seen closer than almost anywhere else in the country:

This little guy doesn't come from the wilds of Maine. It comes from the wilds of Manhattan. This is an Eastern Screech Owl, which we saw on a tour in early August in Inwood Park.

Notice the prey (mouse?) he is holding in one of his claws:
